* In Mende, races... with a thumb in the nose
In 1969, Bob Dylan sang "Running ," promising the dawn of modern running. On August 7, the Beatles recorded " Come Together," a phrase that foreshadowed Spiridon's "Run with us all."
Now, that day was a historic one. It was the first time that a race was organized there with... a snub. In defiance of the regulations in force, they faced the watchdogs of Grandpa's athletics. In Mende, in Lozère, a road race brought together cadets, juniors, seniors, veterans, non-licensed athletes, and even women. The winner was the pioneer Jean-Claude Moulin. Four years later, he created Marvejols-Mende, the Cinderella of off-stadium racing.
